Judy Christy, Principal Oboe Judy Christy has been the principal oboist of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996. Prior to joining the orchestra, Christy played with the New World Symphony as principal oboist. She also performed with the Houston Symphony and the Houston Grand Opera. Christy earned her bachelor’s degree at Oberlin Conservatory, and a Master of Music degree at Rice University. She has performed as principal oboist of the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Colorado Music Festival and the Peter Britt Music Festival. Other festivals include the Tanglewood Music Center, National Repertory Orchestra, Blossom Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Pacific Music Festival and National Orchestra Institute. Her husband is the Orchestra's assistant principal cellist John Marcy. Judy Christy is generously underwritten by Ken & Sue Murray for the 2007-08 season. |
Andrew Snedeker, Co-Principal Oboe Andrew Snedeker earned his B.M. degree from the Conservatory at Baldwin-Wallace College and his M.M. degree from the Ohio State University. He has studied with Florence Sullivan, Dr. Galan Kral, William Baker and Robert Sorton. Snedeker has performed with the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Ohio, the Miami Opera and the Royal Ballet of London, England. He has also been invited to perform at Kalamazoo College, the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), the Baldwin-Wallace College Bach Festival and for the Guiting Chamber Music Festival. With pianist James Cochran and harpist Dickie Fleisher, he produced the compact disc The Enchanting Oboe. He has been with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra since 1989.
