Kevin G. Mauldin, Principal Bass Kevin G. Mauldin earned his B.M. degree from Memphis State University and M.M. degree from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Mauldin, a native of Memphis, has played solos with the Chattanooga Symphony and the Southern College of Seventh Day Adventists, where he was on the faculty. His experience includes engagements with the Cincinnati Symphony, the Memphis Symphony and principal bass with the Chattanooga Symphony. Mauldin spends his summers at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina as part of the artist-faculty and as the assistant principal bass player in the Brevard Music Symphony. Mauldin is a member of the artist faculty at the University of Miami. Kevin G. Mauldin is generously underwritten by Mrs. Alan M. Hallene for the 2007-08 season. |
Debra Stehr, Assistant Principal Bass
Debra Stehr received her B.M. degree from the University of Nebraska and M.M. degree from Shepard School of Music at Rice University where she was a student of Paul Ellison. Stehr’s professional experience includes La Orquest Simfonica del Estado de Mexico, as well as the Gustin and Omaha symphonies. She has also played with the Houston Ballet and Grand Opera and Theatre Under the Stars. Stehr has served as professor of bass at Southwest Texas State University and at the University of Houston and Texas Music Festival.

Matthew Medlock, from Boston University received his B.M. and his M.M. from Rice University. While at Rice University he had the opportunity to perform for an extended time with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Medlock is a two-year Tanglewood Music Center Fellow. He has played with Spoleto, Italy Festival Orchestra, the Key West Symphony and the Iris Chamber Orchestra (Michael Stern, conductor) and has been on faculty with the Eastern Music Festival. Medlock’s teachers include Ed Barker, principal of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Timothy Pitts, principal of the Houston Symphony Orchestra; Paul Ellison, Rice University professor and former principal of the Houston Symphony Orchestra; and Greg Dugan, member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Medlock became a core member of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002.
