My parents, my teachers Alexander Prilutchi and Vartan Manoogian, Josef Gingold.

Who are your favorite composers?
Bach, Brahms, and whoever I am playing at the moment.

What career path would you have taken had you not chosen music?
I really have no idea.

What’s currently playing on your iPod or CD player?
Jamie Aebersold.

Your hobbies and interests:
Family, Basel – my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, jazz harmonica.

Some little-known, yet interesting facts about you:
Climbed Mt. Sinai in 1977 with my dad, Don Basham. Joined the Musicians Union in 1974 when I was 16.

Funniest concert moment:
Playing a solo note for Peter Schickele that was so high only the dog onstage could hear it!

Daily practice rituals:
Play SOMETHING improvised, out of comfort zone.

The question you’re asked most often about your instrument (and your answer):
“Is that Myra’s violin?” My answer: “Uh, yes...”

Your favorite part about playing in the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra:
Seeing over and over how happy we can make our audiences!
