Susan Bergeron
On Stage   OFF STAGE

Name: Susan Moyer Bergeron

Instrument: Cello

Hometown: Lancaster, PA

At what age did you begin playing your instrument? 4

Who have been your greatest musical influences? Rostropovich, Jacqueline DuPre.

Who are your favorite composers? Brahms, Mahler, Bach.

What career path would you have taken had you not chosen music? Glad to not have crossed that path; this was it for me as I was not interested in anything else.

What's currently playing on your iPod or CD player? Brahms Op. 116 piano pieces.

Your hobbies and interests: All things related to my son Jack, cooking, travel, not killing the plant I received for Mother's Day which to date is growing quite nicely, thank you.

Some little-known, yet interesting facts about you: I love the gas grill I bought my husband MORE than he does! And that is saying a lot because he really likes it!

Funniest concert moment:When my knee-high stocking lost its elasticity and fell, bagging around my ankle while I was sitting closest to the audience (outside of the second stand of cellos) at the beginning of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

Daily practice rituals: Always begin with a three-octave C major scale, which I then alter on the way down to G major, go to Eb major to try and use all my fingers as fast as possible to get them warmed up quickly.

The question you're asked most often about your instrument (and your answer): "Don't you wish you played the flute?" (asked as I am lugging my cello onboard an airplane...) My answer: "Thank God, NO!!"

Your favorite part about playing in the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra: The people.
