Education & Outreach
— School Programs
The Naples Museum of Art education programs strive to strengthen the ties between art and a students everyday experiences. Using examples of art from the museum's permanent collection and special exhibitions, students learn about principles of art, history and culture. Through hands-on activities, study guides and docent-led gallery tours, we are able to provide dynamic museum experiences for children and young adults.
Students, teachers and chaperones are admitted to the museum at no charge when visiting the museum as a school group. All supplies and instruction for the art activities are also provided without charge.
As a part of the supplemental material provided for teachers, study guides present teachers with information and suggested activities regarding specific exhibitions. These guides create a multiple disciplinary approach to art education. This is accomplished through the inclusion of grade appropriate vocabulary and the explanation of art techniques and art historical movements. Also introduced are ways of relating the exhibition to other areas of study through the correlation of art to math, science, literature, language, music and history.
